Report: Michigan Basketball set to host 5-star C for official visit this weekend

The Michigan Wolverines have been working the transfer portal and high school recruiting over the last couple weeks to build for future years under Dusty May. After securing the No. 2 high school recruiting class in 2026, headlined by five star guard Brandon McCoy and four star forward Quinn Costello, May is already looking to 2027 and is set to host one of the top recruits in the country this coming weekend.

2027 five-star center Obinna Ekezie Jr., a 7-foot center in the 2027 class, will take an official visit to Ann Arbor this weekend. This was first reported by On3’s Joe Tipton ($).

The 7-foot, 220-pound center is a consensus Top 10 prospect among the major recruiting services. The 247Sports Composite tabs him as the No. 7 prospect in the 2027 cycle and the No. 1 ranked center, and On3 has him as the No. 2 overall recruit and the top-ranked center.

In 2024 for Prolific Prep, Ekezie averaged 10 points, seven rebounds, three blocks and two assists per game en route to a Third-Team MaxPreps Sophomore All-American season. During the NBPA Top 100 Camp last June, he averaged 7.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in three games against some of the top high school competition. And for his junior season at in Orlando, he averaged 12.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks.
