New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel is currently a hot topic thanks to a scandal involving him and former NFL insider for The Athletic, Dianna Russini.
Photos and reports of Vrabel and Russini having what can best be described as an affair have become a distraction for the Patriots. Vrabel has noted that he is focused on being better and coaching the Patriots. However, he has also noted that his family is his top priority, and he missed Day 3 of the NFL Draft to attend counseling.
Vrabel did not cross any boundaries that violate any ethics of his job. However, Russini did. As a journalist and an insider covering the NFL, an affair with an NFL head coach certainly crosses a line. She has resigned from her position at The Athletic, and the belief is that she will not be able to work as a journalist again. As for Vrabel, he seems to have the full support of the Patriots organization, and any situation where he resigns would be due to a personal choice, not because he violated any rules established by the team or league.
In a new report from Daily Mail's Russ Weakland and Ben Nagle, Vrabel was said to feel remorse for what the scandal did to Russini's career.
"Mike feels terrible on many levels, especially since Dianna's career is pretty much over, and that blood is on his hands," a source told Daily Mail. "He feels terrible that he is responsible and that she may never be able to work again."
