Napoli cannot yet celebrate the sale of Jens Cajuste to Ipswich Town, as promotion alone does not trigger the €7.5m buy option. The midfielder is currently on loan at Ipswich with a potential permanent transfer contingent on specific conditions.
Report Napoli cannot celebrate Cajuste sale to Ipswich Town yet
Napoli cannot celebrate the sale of Jens Cajuste yet, as Fabrizio Romano reports promotion isn’t enough to activate the Ipswich Town €7.5m option to buy.
The midfielder was sent out to the Championship side last summer on loan with an option to make the move permanent at a cost of €7.5m.
It had been reported that this included a clause making the purchase an obligation in case of promotion to the Premier League.
So with the Tractor Boys stepping up to the top flight this weekend, Napoli had hoped to cash in on Cajuste.

However, transfer pundit Romano warns the clause in question also includes the requirement that he play in 50 per cent of their games, and he hasn’t achieved that target yet.
The Sweden international has featured in 31 games between the Championship and FA Cup this season, contributing one goal and four assists.
Napoli cannot celebrate the sale because promotion to the Premier League does not automatically activate the €7.5m buy option.
The conditions for Ipswich Town to buy Jens Cajuste permanently include not just promotion but also specific clauses that must be met.
The buy option for Jens Cajuste from Ipswich Town is set at €7.5m.

Napoli paid €11.5m to sign Cajuste from Stade Reims in the summer of 2023, but he never made an impact, going on two different loans to Ipswich Town in August 2024 and again in August 2025.
Those loans brought in circa €2.7m in fees to the Partenopei club coffers.
