âThe Oilers have relieved Kris Knoblauch of his coaching duties,â Rishaug wrote. This happens merely days after rumors swirled regarding the Oilersâ interest in speaking with former Vegas Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy.
This also comes out almost eight hours after the 2 Mutts Hockey Podcast shared some insight in their own report.
âWe are hearing tonight that the Edmonton Oilers & Kris Knoblauch are working towards mutual parting of ways this evening,â the post said. âOfficial announcement is expected by the organization shortly. A few players from our understanding are upset with how this got leaked out to the public & handled by the management staff. Kris is liked & respected by the players.â
âThe Oilers are still working towards interviewing Bruce Cassidy this week as well, with Bruce being the leading candidate for the New Head Coaching position. Lots of moving parts here.â
Cassidy has been linked to both the Oilers and the Los Angeles Kings.
At the time of this writing, the Oilers have not made an official statement.
More to come, as this is a developing story.
