Terron Armstead has been on a heater in his turn from playing Pro Bowl-quality football to interviewing his fellow NFL stars. The former New Orleans Saints left tackle got some great material out of his old teammates Alvin Kamara and Cesar Ruiz, and now he's shared an insightful conversation with Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Lavonte David, one of the most underrated players of his generation. David sat down with his longtime rival for an interview on Armstead's The Set podcast and YouTube show and opened up about the respect he keeps for Drew Brees.
"You had to be on point on everything you do," David said. "Can't slip up, can't make no false steps. You had to damn near play a perfect game. For me, being a linebacker, I loved it. Drew was the only quarterback in our division I didn't intercept. That was always a challenge for me, to try to get him especially in the passing game. Just the battles, bro."
David was a rare talent, as he said, especially in the passing game. He was credited with 15 interceptions in his career, including takeaways against NFC South quarterbacks Matt Ryan, , and . But not Brees. And that challenge from Brees and the Saints offense led to a lot of long study sessions in the film room.
Lavonte David mentioned that facing Drew Brees required playing a near-perfect game, emphasizing the challenge he presented as a quarterback.
Lavonte David recorded 15 interceptions throughout his career, but he notably never intercepted Drew Brees.
David stated that the challenges posed by the Saints kept him up at night and contributed to his improvement as a player.

"Y'all boys kept me up at night sometimes, man. I definitely got better from it though," David grinned.
No team competed against David's Buccaneers more often than the Saints -- 28 times in his 14-year career. And no team handed him more losses than New Orleans (18 of them). If those experiences helped him hone his craft and eventually lead the Bucs to a Super Bowl? Maybe their fans can remember that the next time they start bragging about it.
