Arizona Diamondbacks right fielder Corbin Carroll continues to create MLB history.
Last July, the 25-year-old speedster became the first MLB player to compile four multi-home run and three multi-triple games. Not only in a career, but in a season.
When looking at players with four multi-homer outings and two-triple games, the last player to accomplish the feat was New York/San Francisco Giants icon Willie Mays in 1955.
Out of the lineup the previous two games with a left hip flexor, Carroll returned to the Diamondbacks' lineup Saturday for a monumental start, linking him to two New York Yankees legends, Joe DiMaggio and Lou Gehrig.
In 500 career outings, Carroll, a fifth-year professional, compiled 84 home runs and 46 triples.
That placed Carroll in elite company.
Only DiMaggio and Gehrig posted at least 80 homers and 45 triples in their first 500 MLB appearances. Gehrig collected 99 home runs and 54 triples and DiMaggio had 120 homers and 46 triples in their first 500 games.
Harnessing power and speed, Carroll entered 2026 as the NL triples leader three seasons running. He had three in his first 42 at-bats this season, before suffering the hip injury.
After sitting out the previous two games, Carroll re-entered the lineup as a designated hitter. He went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts and a run scored during the 4-3 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told reporters Saturday that he remained undecided whether Carroll would DH or play the field during Sunday's series finale.
"It made a lot of sense to be able to get him back in the dugout (as the DH)," Lovullo said, as reported by the Arizona Republic. "We need him in the lineup and he was ready to go."
Carroll has more MLB history to chase.
