Rory McIlroy still has a great chance to win his second consecutive Masters title on Sunday, but he has his work cut out now after his poor round on day three at Augusta National.
McIlroy won the 2025 Masters in dramatic fashion after defeating Justin Rose in a sudden-death playoff on the 18th hole.
And the 36-year-old seemed to be cruising to his second green jacket after 36 holes of The Masters this year.
However, McIlroy never got going on Saturday at The Masters as his poor driving finally caught up with him at Augusta National.

That said, there will be plenty of other players firing at pins all day as well, including the likes of Cameron Young, who is tied for the lead, Shane Lowry, serial Masters contender Justin Rose and world number one Scottie Scheffler.
If McIlroy is to win his second green jacket, it certainly won’t be easy. That said, the 36-year-old Northern Irishman never makes things easy, does he?
One thing’s for sure; if he slips up at all on Sunday, he will not win the 90th edition of The Masters.
2002 PGA Championship winner Rich Beem has been working for UK broadcaster Sky Sports at Augusta this week.
Beem has full faith in McIlroy ahead of the final round at The Masters on Sunday.
However, if the five-time major champion fails to get the job done, who could sneak in and pip him to the trophy?
“If Rory does not get it done, I have a sneaky suspicion for Shane Lowry,“ Beem said.
The American’s co-commentator, Andrew Coltart, then suggested that Rose could be the last man standing at Augusta National.

“I am going to go Rose,“ the Scot exclaimed.
“I think he has come so close three times, I think he is going to step through and get Rory to put the jacket on his shoulders.“
There are so many players in with a genuine chance of winning The Masters on Sunday.
With the wind set to kick up in the afternoon, with gusts predicted to reach 21 mph from 3pm onwards, even guys as far as six or seven back of the lead could still have an outside chance.
If McIlroy goes out and posts a round like he did on Friday, he will surely win The Masters.
However, the 36-year-old quite clearly didn’t have his best stuff on day three at Augusta National.
What an incredible final round we have in store for us with some incredible storylines waiting for the perfect ending to be written.
Will it be McIlroy, Lowry or Young who reigns supreme on Masters Sunday? Or will Scheffler, Rose, Jason Day or Sam Burns do enough to top the leaderboard come 7pm?
Whatever the outcome, every golf fan will almost certainly enjoy the ride.
