KTM are still weighing up their options for the second seat next to Alex Marquez in 2027, and the opening could end up going to Moto2’s Senna Agius.
There haven’t been any official rider announcements for 2027 just yet, as teams remain focused on ongoing negotiations with Dorna over the next Concorde Agreement. Still, it’s believed several deals are already in place behind the scenes, and KTM have certainly been keeping busy.
With Pedro Acosta making the move to Ducati for 2026, KTM had to react quickly. The team wasted no time in bringing in Alex Marquez, giving him the factory role he had been aiming for.
The second seat at KTM is still very much up for grabs. Brad Binder, Maverick Vinales, and Enea Bastianini are all heading towards contract expirations in 2026. With none of them guaranteed to stay put after that, Agius could end up being an unexpected winner from how things play out.

Vinales had been expected to move up from Tech3 to the factory team in 2027, especially after his performances last season. He showed promise on the RC16, even though injuries disrupted his campaign.
But after a slow start to 2026, where he’s yet to score a point, Vinales’ contract is reportedly on hold. KTM are looking at other options and is already talking to several riders about joining Marquez for next year.
According to Motorsport Espana, all three of Binder, Vinales and Bastianini remain in contention for the seat, though Bastianini is believed to be high on Gresini’s wish list. KTM are also considering names outside their current roster.
The report suggests that the spot alongside Marquez might be given to one of the rising Moto2 riders. Veijer, currently with KTM Ajo, has put himself in the mix along with Agius.
The 20-year-old is expected to be in the mix for the title next season. He already has a win at COTA under his belt and was sitting sixth in the standings heading into Jerez.
Those results haven’t gone unnoticed, with KTM keeping him on their radar. But they’re not the only ones interested, as other teams are also tracking Agius for 2027.
According to Motorsport ES, he’s been speaking with Trackhouse too. Ai Ogura is set to join Yamaha next season, and there are questions around Raul Fernandez’s future with the team.
Agius has also been linked to Pramac, where Jack Miller is under pressure to hold onto his seat. There are a few paths open to him, but he’ll need to keep putting in strong performances in Moto2 if he wants those opportunities to stay alive.
