Nottingham Forest beats Porto 2-1 on aggregate to reach Europa League semi-finals!
Rocco Becht, the new starting quarterback for Penn State, is making significant progress in his recovery from shoulder surgery and is expected to be fully ready this summer. Head coach Matt Campbell has praised Becht's performance during spring practices, which will conclude with an open practice on April 25.
He may be the most experienced quarterback in the nation. Even more, new Penn State football leader Rocco Becht is making significant progress in his spring rehab from shoulder surgery.
Becht has long been expected to be full go this summer, leading into his first and only season as the Nittany Lions starting quarterback after following new head coach Matt Campbell from Iowa State.
However, he's apparently accomplished more during these 15 spring practice sessions than the PSU coaching staff anticipated. Campbell provided another positive update after practice on Tuesday in State College.
These remade Lions will end their first spring sessions under Campbell and company with their Blue-White open practice in Beaver Stadium on April 25. Their 2026 season, with more than 50 new players, begins four months later.

"My biggest thing with Rocco is just getting him back out there with our wide receiver group, being able to throw and catch the football, command the offense, verbalize a new offensive system to others, be able to teach," Campbell said.
"What you love about Rocco is every day you walk past here at four o'clock and he's got the entire receiving corps, tight end corps, meeting with those guys and going over practice. Those are the things you want to see.
"When is he ready to play? He'll be ready to rock and roll (in the summer)," Campbell added. "I think the fact that weâve gotten this much out of him (during spring practices) is way ahead of probably where we thought we would have been. So, I think thatâs really big for him. His leadership out on the football field and in this locker room is critical for us."
Becht, who will be a fourth-year starter for Campbell and offensive coordinator Taylor Mouser in the fall, offers unquestioned leadership and a winning pedigree. He's college football's most experienced returning quarterback in terms of plays (2,509 career snaps), according to a recent CBS Sports review.
Becht also leads FBS quarterbacks in games played (46), starts (39) and victories (26).
He's been working spring practice drills since late March and participated in seven-on-seven sessions in the past week, Campbell said.
The coach has been effusive about Becht's intangibles ever since he arrived.
âHe's one of the greatest leaders I've ever been around,â Campbell said, before talking about how Becht played through a torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder last fall. "He had to get shot up every Tuesday and Wednesday just to practice ... and the guy gave us every chance to win every one of those games, every step of the way.
"He's as competitive as any football player I've been around."
