Another day, another game where the Texas Rangers had trouble mounting some offense. Kumar Rocker went out and pitched well, but it wasn't good enough.
The Athletics got out of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex on Sunday with 2-1 victory.
Rangers fans can't blame Rocker for this defeat. Even Rangers manager Skip Schumaker was impressed by Rocker's outing at Globe Life Field.
“Rocker was great,” Schumaker said after the game, according to Rangers beat reporter Kennedi Landry of MLB.com. “He walked those two guys in the first inning and after that really settled in. He gave us a chance to win. Six innings, two runs, you'd sign up for that all day long. He was fantastic. We just couldn't get that big hit.”
That big hit that didn't happen proved to be the difference between a win and a loss.
The Athletics scored their only two runs in the top of the first inning thanks to Carlos Cortes' two-run triple to center.
How frustrating was the loss for the Rangers?
All someone has to do is look at the sixth inning. Texas loaded the bases with nobody out. The Rangers set themselves up for a big inning.
Instead, three outs later, no runs crossed home plate.
This number will have Schumaker pulling his hair out. With runners in scoring position on Sunday, the Rangers went 1-for-20. That's not a recipe for success in the MLB world.
When speaking to reporters after Sunday's loss, didn't hold back in his comments regarding what happened.
Kumar Rocker pitched well during the game, impressing both fans and Rangers manager Skip Schumaker.
The Texas Rangers lost to the Athletics with a final score of 2-1.

“Unfortunately, it's extremely frustrating,” Nimmo said, according to Landry. “Yes, we would love to come through in those situations. I want it for all these guys as well. We have to take it as a learning experience, and you have to try and take it and use it for the next time in that situation."
Nimmo also waxed poetic about the type of situation that the Rangers faced after the ballgame. He found a comparison from the popular TV show "Ted Lasso" to elaborate.
“Every day is a new day, and every series is a new series,” Nimmo said. “Just because you did well yesterday doesn't mean you're going to do well today and vice versa. I take this from Ted Lasso, but you gotta be a goldfish."
Nimmo said that the team goes into every series with the goal of winning it. But he added that every single day, it's new pitches and fresh thinking that are important.
"We'll need to come prepared tomorrow and wipe the slate clean and be a goldfish,” he told Landry.
That better be the mindset Rangers players take because Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees are coming to town. Texas and New York open a three-game series on Monday night at Globe Life Field.
