“Rowdy” is coming full force.
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s Bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey, returns to combat sports this weekend (Sat., May 16, 2026), facing fellow women’s MMA pioneer, Gina Carano, in MVP MMA 1’s main event inside Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, California.
With Rousey competing for the first time since 2016, there are naturally plenty of questions surrounding her mindset, physical condition and overall motivation — especially considering she’s fighting someone she has openly admired for years.
But while Rousey insists she’s genuinely at peace with whatever happens on Saturday night, don’t mistake that calmness for softness.
“I mean, it’s been incredible — she was my hero getting into the sport, and this is what brought us together,” Rousey told reporters following her open workout (watch here). “We’re trying our best not to be friends and to not communicate, but I desperately want to hit her up before every press conference to find out what color she’s wearing.”
Ronda Rousey's fight against Gina Carano is scheduled for May 16, 2026.
Ronda Rousey states she is 'at peace' with whatever happens in the fight but is determined to win.
The fight will take place at Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, California.

“But it’s incredible because I feel like no matter which way it goes, I’m totally at peace with it,” Rousey continued. “It’s one of those fights where it is a feel-good experience no matter what.”
That said, once the cage door closes, Rousey plans to go full “Rowdy.”
“I’m going to give her every single f—king thing I have because I have so much respect for her,” Rousey explained. “I know we have forgiveness in our hearts for each other. I will be the first one to pop her elbow back in, drive her to the hospital, and get her flowers — and I hope she would be the first person to help me off the mat if I ended up going down with something.”
Rousey has already confirmed this weekend’s fight will officially be the final MMA bout of her career before focusing on expanding her family with husband Travis Browne.
Because of that, expect the former UFC superstar to leave absolutely nothing in the tank.
After all, very few fighters get the chance to script their own ending — and even fewer walk away on a win.
So while there’s clearly mutual admiration between the two women’s MMA legends, don’t expect Rousey to take it easy on Carano this weekend.
“Rowdy” still plans on trying to take an arm home with her.
