Rory McIlroy has won the 2026 Masters by shooting 12 under par at the storied Augusta National Golf Club. Today’s win marks his sixth major championship, and in the upcoming Green Jacket ceremony, McIlroy will put the winner’s jacket on himself.

With his victory, he becomes just the fourth golfer in history to win at the Masters in back-to-back years. The only others to successfully defend their titles were Jack Nicklaus (1965 and 1966), Nick Faldo (1989 and 1990), and Tiger Woods (2001 and 2002). At the 18th green to congratulate McIlroy after his win include his wife Erica, his daughter Poppy, and his parents Gerry and Rosie.

Heading into this year’s Masters, the Northern Irish golfer said in a press conference, “It’s completely different. I feel so much more relaxed. I know that I’m going to be coming back here for a lot of years, going to enjoy the perks that the champions get here. It doesn’t make me any less motivated to go out there and play well and try to win the tournament, but yeah, just more relaxed about it all.”

Going into the final round, McIlroy and Cameron Young were tied for the lead, but it was McIlroy—supported by his longtime caddie and friend Harry Diamond—who eventually triumphed. McIlroy said after Saturday’s round, “I’d like to think that I’ll play a little bit freer and I’ll play, you know, like I’ve already got a Green Jacket, which I do. Sometimes I maybe just have to remind myself of that.”
