Mariners face Padres tonight in Game #20 after tough loss.
On April 14, Erie Mason's boys and girls track teams both won against Whiteford in the Tri-County Conference, with the girls winning 75-65 and the boys 79-58.
OTTAWA LAKE – The Tri-County Conference track and field race in recent years has been like the NASCAR season.
The biggest event comes first.
Just as NASCAR opens with the Daytona 500, the TCC gets started with its two best teams going head-to-head.
That key opening statement went to Erie Mason as the boys and girls both got started by beating Whiteford on Tuesday, April 14.
The girls pulled out a 75-65 win while the boys posted a 79-58 victory.
Guillana Nastale led the girls, taking the 100 and 200-meter dashes – the two events she won last spring at the Division 3 state finals.
She also was part of the winning 800 and 1,600 relays.
Jaylyn Horton won the 1,600 and ,3200 and led a sweep of the top three places in the 1,600 with Riley England and Tani Neff.
Paige Konrad ruled the long jump and was part of the 800 relay.
Other Eagle winners were Aubrey Icoangelli (high jump) and Lexie Carner (high hurdles).
Mason’s boys were led by Lincoln Murbach, who won both hurdle races and the 100 meters. He ran a personal-best :15.82 in the high hurdles.
Weston Albright pulled off the unusual double of the 3,200 meters and long jump.
Joseph Colaluca (800) and Caleb Healey (1,600) also won events for Mason and Healey ran with Jason Cousino, Brayden Hincher and Porter Ravory on the winning 3,200 relay.
Whiteford was led by Antonio Nachtrab, Nate Andrews, Jess Saylor, Brody Hillard, Brek Ruddy and Ryan Thomas.
Mason and Whiteford both swept Britton Deerfield, the third member of the tri meet.
GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD
Grace Raymond and Alyson Ost, Summerfield: Both won two individual events and ran on a pair of winning relays as the Bulldogs opened the Tri-County Conference season by beating Sand Creek 93-44, Morenci 100-35 and Lenawee Christian 117-10. Raymond won the 400 and high jump and Ost ruled the 800 and 1,600. Both helped the 1,600 and 3,200 relays to victory. Makenzie Wolfe (3,200), Elena Miller (shot-put) and Makenna Shipe (discus) also won individual events.

Rose Tillman, New Boston Huron: Recorded personal bests to win both the 100 meters (:14.15) and long jump (14-4.25) to lead Huron past Airport. The Chiefs got hurdle wins from Julia Stasak (highs) and Avery Turk (lows) and swept all four relays. Airport’s Ella Baker won the three longest races of the day and Casey Vey (200, 400) and Olivia Kemp (throws) were double winners.

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD
Luke Dulecki, New Boston Huron: Earned victories in the four longest runs of the day to lead an 86-42 victory over Airport. He was first in the individual 800, 1,600 and 3,200 meters and ran a leg on the winning 3,200 relay. Austin Krause swept the hurdles. Other winners for the Chiefs were Jamil Brown (100), Cole Druyor (400), Ben Holbrook (long jump) and Cayden Kilby (high jump). Airport took the top three places in both throws with Holden Otter (discus) and Jaxson Nichols (shot-put) taking first. Anthony Tamahkyarov was the champion in the 200.
PREP SOFTBALL
Abby Marek, Dundee: Doubled and drove in the only run of the day as Dundee dipped to 0-7 by falling 10-1 and 16-0 to Clinton.
GIRLS TENNIS
Kelsey Brubaker and Alaina Brubaker, Milan: Took the first two singles flights in straight sets during a 6-2 victory over New Boston Huron. The 2-2 Big Reds swept the doubles with Annika Koch-Aubree Higgins, Maria Scuccimarri-Lana Pacholke, Charlotte Finch-Ava Thornton and Dakota Ludwig- Evelyn Gill, Simone Cicotte and Lilah Otter won for Huron.
BOYS LACROSSE
Max Flint, SMCC: Poured in nine goals during a 14-6 triumph over Detroit Cass Tech. Jayce Dupras chipped in a goal and five assists. Brenton Carter nothced two goals and Gabe Angove contributed three assists.
