On Tuesday night, the Kansas City Royals took to the field against the Detroit Tigers, looking to get a win in the series opener against their division rivals. Things were going smoothly for Kansas City until the bottom of the first inning, when Isaac Collins stumbled into the seating section after a foul ball.
On top of coming away from the play without securing the out, Collins was slow to get up from where he was in the seating, and would be removed from Tuesday night’s action shortly after. IT would be some time before Kansas City would have a prognosis on what Collins was removed for, and the verdict would be a contusion in his right knee.
While there isn’t more information regarding the 28-year-old’s status at this time in the bigger picture, it will come in the midst of what has been a shaky start to the season, one that is seeing him slash .214/.327/.310 across his 15 appearances. Despite it not sounding all too impressive, Collins has proven to be a middle-of-the-pack batter for Kansas City this season, which isn’t the worst way to get his time with the Royals started, after he was traded in the offseason from the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Royals would replace the 28-year-old with Tyler Tolbert, who has yet to record a hit this season in any of his four games.

Before his injury, Isaac Collins had a batting average of .214 with a .327 on-base percentage and a .310 slugging percentage over 15 appearances.
