Rumor Suggests NY Yankees Players Bored With Jerseys, Want Alternates

While the New York Yankees classic jerseys are iconic in MLB circles, it seems that the team’s players are a bit bored with the look and would like some options.

There are only a few sports brands that are not just known nationally, but around the world. The Yankees are one of them. Their cap and shirts with their branding is worn all over the world because the club is synonymous with winning after bringing home 27 MLB championships.

The franchise is also one of the oldest in the United States, having taken to the diamond for the first time as the New York Highlanders all the way back in 1903. Their legendary pinstripes are nearly as old and were introduced in 1912. It is a vintage look that ownership likes, and they are the only team in the league that does not use alternate jerseys. Even their rivals for over 100 years, the Boston Red Sox, have alternate uniforms.

But times change. Last year, for the first time in nearly 50 years, the Yankees allowed their player to grow beards. It seems that step into a more modern direction may have inspired New York players to request another major change for the team.
