Rumour Mongering: Inter Milan Plot €15M Curtis Jones Transfer

Liverpool are set to lose club legends Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson in the summer, and there’s been growing speculation around the future of star goalkeeper Alisson Becker in recent weeks. However, even they might not be all of the Jürgen Klopp-era Reds leaving the club in the summer.

There has also been talk of late of a potential departure for Curtis Jones, with the Liverpool-born midfielder seemingly unconvinced by his role under head coach Arne Slot over the past two seasons. With just a year left on his contract and no talk of a new one in the works, it may end up a case of selling him now for a fee—or losing Jones for nothing in 2027.

Some might expect Jones to seek to stay in the Premier League, but perhaps due to his Liverpool loyalties it is instead Serie A and Inter Milan being talked up as a potential destinations, and according to CalcioMercato at least there is a belief in Italy that he could be signed for just around €10-15M.

It’s a fee that, if the Italian chatter is to be believed, reflects Jones’ contract status, the fact that he seems stuck as a fringe starter at now 25 years of age, and that the player himself has decided it’s in his best interest to move on from Liverpool. There have also been claims this week from Fabrizio Romano suggesting Jones has given the go-ahead to Inter.

Given Liverpool’s struggles this season, the lack of a tactical identity and fitness concerns as we head into May, questions about the suitability of Slot, and the looming exodus of the last key players of the Klopp era it’s hard to feel confident at the moment about the direction of Liverpool Football Club and those tasked with figuring out what comes next.
