Russell Wilson is weighing a contract offer from the New York Jets against a potential TV role with CBS's 'The NFL Today.' He expressed uncertainty about his decision but acknowledges his ability to play at a high level.

To play or not to play, that is the question.
Russell Wilson has a decision to make about his immediate future in the NFL. The New York Jets brought him in for a visit on April 28, eyeing him as a potential backup to Geno Smith. Then there is the possibility of joining "The NFL Today" show on CBS, according to The Athletic's Andrew Marchand.
It's unclear which option Wilson prefers at this stage, but the quarterback spoke about them with the New York Post's Ryan Dunleavy on May 6 at BTIG Charity Day.
“It was great,” Wilson said of his visit with the Jets. “They offered me, and I’m trying to figure out what the next best thing is for me to do. I still know I can play ball at a high level, but also I have an opportunity to do TV so we’ll see what happens.”
That would be an interesting dynamic for the Jets' quarterback room, considering Smith was the backup to Wilson during their time together with the Seattle Seahawks. Those roles would be reversed with the Jets, but it doesn't seem like Wilson would have a problem with it.
"Geno is a great guy," Wilson said. "We've been great friends, great teammates. I'm just focused on today."

Whether he continues to play or not, Wilson is just excited to remain involved with the game in some way.
"I just love football," Wilson said. "I love ball, being in it in every way, staying ready to play through and just every day I'm training and getting ready, but also too I think I have a lot of great opportunities. The good news is there's a lot I could have done.
"I think playing 14-plus years has been amazing for me and I'm just grateful I get to do what I love to do."

Wilson experienced plenty of success through those 14 seasons, posting a 121-80-1 record in 202 regular-season starts. However, his play has fallen off in recent years and the quarterback has played for three teams in the last three seasons.
He lost the starting job after just three games with the New York Giants, who opted to move forward with Jaxson Dart following an 0-3 record with Wilson atop the depth chart.
If he opted to join the Jets, Wilson would provide another veteran voice in a locker room that Aaron Glenn is still trying to fix. The Jets have tried to change the culture by acquiring veteran leadership this offseason, trading for Smith and signing Demario Davis.
Wilson would be viewed as a mentor who brings plenty of pedigree as a Super Bowl champion, 10-time Pro Bowler and Walter Payton Man of the Year Award recipient.
The 14-year NFL veteran quarterback can choose to continue his career on the field in uniform or in a suit with a microphone behind a desk.
One way or another, it appears that Wilson's future will be in the New York area.
