Ryan Giggs makes Cole Palmer to Man United transfer claim
Manchester United icon Ryan Giggs has issued his verdict on the club potentially signing Chelsea superstar Cole Palmer.
Palmer has increasingly been linked to United over the past few weeks, amidst suggestions that he is unhappy at Chelsea.
His form has declined since Enzo Marescaâs departure in January, with Liam Rosenior so far proving unable to get the best out of him. However, in a recent interview, Palmer indicated that he has no desire to exit Stamford Bridge. He delivered that statement on the eve of Unitedâs 1-0 victory over the Blues.
But, with Chelsea on a downward spiral and United looking better under Michael Carrick, itâs unlikely that the rumour mills will stop spinning.
Giggs made an appearance on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast and was asked whether Palmer would fit the bill at United.
The Welshman answered, âYeah, he would, Manchester lad.â
âWhere would he play with obviously Bruno [Fernandes] at No.10? He could play off the right possibly. But yeah, we talk about [Rasmus] Hojlund and [Benjamin] Sesko, itâs only really Bruno who is creating things time and time again.â
âWhat if Bruno has a bad day or heâs injured? You need three or four players in your squad who can make things happen for these players to put the ball in the back of the net.â
Ryan Giggs expressed his thoughts on the potential transfer of Cole Palmer to Manchester United amidst ongoing speculation.

Giggs also made an eye-catching claim about Amorimâs time at United. The Portuguese coach was sacked by United in January after 14 months in charge.
His tenure was highlighted by inconsistent results and performances as he struggled to implement his 3-4-3 formation. Despite calls for him to adapt to the players at his disposal, Amorim stubbornly stuck to his principles. He eventually fell out with the football leadership group, marking the end of his spell in the dugout.
Carrick has overseen a transformation, with United on the cusp of securing Champions League football.
Giggs praised Carrickâs impact but suggested he is also reaping the rewards of the positive foundations left by his predecessor.
He told Ferdinand, âFor once in a long time, youâre excited about the games. Iâve obviously got mates who are season ticket holders, and they canât wait for the next game and theyâre looking forward to it.â
âIt was unfortunate the result against Leeds [losing 2-1 last Monday] but obviously weâre all cheering Michael on. Heâs an ex-teammate and heâs a brilliant bloke so we want him to do well.â
The 52-year-old continued, âThereâs positivity from me because the hardest thing to do as a manager is win games and heâs winning games. Itâs hard at this time of the season to really stamp your own philosophy, your own principles of play.â
On Amorim, Giggs remarked, âI think every manager that goes into a role now is like interim because you donât get time. I think 20-30 years ago youâre looking at long-term, youâre buying players in. Young players, who are maybe not right yet but in two or three yearsâ time theyâll be great for the club.â
âYou canât do that anymore⊠Well, you can do but youâve got to [work] short-term and long-term, and I think Michael will do that. And another sign of a good manager is the team that he leaves behind.â
âRuben Amorim took a lot of stick for the way that he played. I didnât enjoy watching it but, actually, I think some of his signings have been good and I think weâre now seeing that now. Even though his legacy probably isnât great with results and performances, actually for a long time now heâs probably left the club, and the players that he got out, in a pretty good place.â
United are next in action on Monday when they welcome Brentford to Old Trafford.
