The Detroit Pistons are only the third first-seeded team in NBA Playoffs history to go down 3-1 in the first-round. Cade Cunningham and Coach JB Bickerstaff are clearly not pleased with how this Pistons squad is doing against the Orlando Magic. Jalen Duren has been one of the biggest talking points in this postseason series but he thinks that they can overcome the deficit.
A big reason as to why the Pistons are losing is because Cade Cunningham rarely has a reliable third scorer alongside him. Yes, Tobias constantly puts up 20 points in the NBA Playoffs but even those numbers are not enough. Fans expected Jalen Duren to be the next person up for this Pistons series against the Magic but he has not quite looked like his All-Star self. Despite concerns about the Pistons not seeing the full power of Duren, the big man thinks that they still have a shot to become only the 14th team in NBA Playoffs history to come back from down 3-1, via Hunter Patterson of The Athletic.
Jalen Duren stated, 'It ainât over,' expressing confidence that the Pistons can still overcome their 3-1 deficit in the playoffs.
Only 13 teams in NBA Playoffs history have successfully come back from a 3-1 deficit.
The Pistons are struggling primarily due to a lack of a reliable third scorer alongside Cade Cunningham, leading to self-inflicted errors like turnovers.

"Obviously upset. We feel like we dropped at least more than one game that we were supposed to win. Everything is self-inflicted. The turnovers, not executing when we needed to. It ainât over, bro. Teams have come back from down 3-1 so many times. It wouldnât be the first time in history. Weâve got to keep it one at a time, go protect the crib and keep moving from there. S*** ainât over," the Pistons big man said.
Duren was a big reason for why the Magic won over the Pistons in Game 4. In 31 minutes of action, he was only able to put up 12 and eight rebounds. The big man did put up a steal and a block on the defensive end but those were overshadowed by his many mistakes. How huge were those pitfalls? Well, Duren turned the ball over four times and committed five fouls. It also did not help that Cunningham only got his 25 points by shooting 30% from the field and committing eight turnovers.
The Pistons' NBA Playoffs hopes are in the hands of Duren. Can Cunningham and Coach Bickerstaff put him in a position to pop off in Game 5 against the Magic?
