And who can blame the city right now?
Playing in the team's first playoffs in 15 years, the Sabres are moving on. They won Game 6 in Boston on Friday night to advance to the second round.
That meant many fans were back at home in Western New York, watching from afar, hoping for their beloved competitors to get the job done.

Many of them stayed up to welcome the Sabres home, too.
Captain Rasmus Dahlin posted a video on his Instagram story with the time on it as 1:28 a.m. -- and look at all the fans there to greet the Sabres as they left the airport:

This is a brilliant sports city no matter the competitiveness of its teams. Whether the Bills or Sabres are bad or good, the fans show up and support with all they've got.
