Saints coach Kellen Moore honored at Boise State's iconic blue field

Here's a really cool honor for New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore. He was a legendary college quarterback with the Boise State Broncos back in the day, earning recognition as a Heisman Trophy finalist and winning the title of college football's all-time winningest quarterback (going 50-3 as a starter). That's a contested title, but the argument against Moore doesn't hold up to the facts.

Fans of Jalen Hurts from his time at Alabama don't get to claim games where Tua Tagovailoa threw more passes than him, like 2018's wins over Tennessee (29 attempts against 3 from Hurts), Oklahoma (27 to 1), or Auburn (32 to 1). He wasn't the starter in those games. Moore never threw fewer than 16 passes in a start.

And because of that, Moore is being honored with a special marker at Boise's iconic Albertsons Stadium. Home of the famous blue turf, the field is marked with white hashes and tick lines -- but the 11-yard line will be changed from white to orange, representing Moore's No. 11 jersey. That's also true of the 2-yard line, which is being marked in orange to recognize the school's other Heisman Trophy finalist, running back Ashton Jeanty.

Good for Moore (and Jeanty). His alma mater is very proud of him, and rightfully so after he and his teammates helped lift the program to its national profile as one of college football's most dangerous underdogs. That his friends and family back home will have a reminder of him during every home game has to feel very special.
