Saints defensive line coach Bo Davis is scheduled to meet with Tennessee lineman Tyre West this week as the team prepares for the NFL Draft. West, a promising prospect, had a strong 2025 season with notable statistics including 4 sacks and 7 tackles for loss.
2026 feels like a season that could be a huge building block for the New Orleans Saints' future, with Tyler Shough and Kellen Moore having a full offseason to put together an offense specifically tailored to them. With the cap space situation resolved and the team getting much younger at many core positions, they have already completely overhauled the roster in only a few short years.
Now, all eyes turn to the NFL Draft, as the Saints look to build for the future, but also add pieces who can contribute early on. One of their biggest focuses, no doubt, will be the defense, specifically on the defensive line, given the changes happening there and the need for interior talent. A name who has come up recently as an option is Tennessee prospect Tyre West, who is set to speak with Saints defensive line coach Bo Davis later this week.
West is a very intriguing player all-around, as he is a very solid athlete for his size, and his production has steadily improved over the years. In 2025, he posted 23 total tackles, 7 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, a pass deflection, a forced fumble, 17 pressures, and 13 defensive stops. At 6-foot-3, 290 pounds, he has great measurables for a defensive lineman, but also is agile enough to move gap to gap and block running lanes and come off the edge.
In 2025, he was predominantly used outside the tackle, with 216 reps outside, 48 over the tackle, and 16 in the B-Gap. While he does come off the edge often, he splits a decent chunk of reps over the tackle and in the B-Gap, so it will be very interesting to see where he ultimately projects at the next level.
