Jeremiah Wright's versatility enhances the Saints' offensive line depth. The Auburn guard, who switched from defensive tackle, impressed coaches with his strong performance and experience.
Saintsâ Jeremiah Wrightâs versatility is a plus for depth on the offensive line
NEW ORLEANS, La. (WGNO) â Jeremiah Wrightâs versatility jumped off the film for Kellen Mooreâs offense and an added plus, the guard from Auburn has experience from both sides of the trenches where he switched from defensive tackle in 2022.
âStrong guy and obviously we saw what he progressed through coming from Auburn and his exposure there on both sides of the footballâ, says Kellen Moore.
Wright spent 6 seasons with the Tigers, starting all games in 2025 with 33 knockdowns.
As expected, itâs been a learning curve for Wright but playing on a high level in the SEC, softens the blow.
âItâs good for me because a lot of the terms are similarâ, Wright confirms. âJust probably the schemes and everything is still different but just blessed and grateful for that.â
Meanwhile, Wright has the luxury of working under Will Clapp who just transitioned into a coaching role, serving as a bridge between the rookies and offensive line coach, Brendan Nugent.
âI think what was a great opportunity, a blessing in disguise because obviously he got hurt and that was a challenge in a different lens and the way he kind of started mentoring guys last year put himself in a little bit of a coaching approach to the week I thought was really beneficial. Will knows this thing inside and out. Heâs played at a really high level for a number of years in this league and so his communication with these guys I think is going to be excellent.â
âWith him being in the league and actually just got done playing, thatâs a guy that I can lean on and learn from being in the game and I can take his coaching points and things that he learned while he was playing.â
Wright is a Selma High alum, home to the Saints.
On his right calf, where he has a tattoo of a fleur-de-lis where at that time was symbolic to his alma mater. Now Wright can double down as a Saint, now in his professional career.
