The New Orleans Saints are considering drafting injury-prone wide receiver Jordyn Tyson, who has missed significant time due to injuries in college. Despite his injury history, the Saints may feel confident in his potential, drawing parallels to their previous pick of quarterback Tyler Shough.
Every NFL team tries to learn from their mistakes, but their successes can be learning opportunities, too. The New Orleans Saints took a risk on an injury-prone quarterback last year by picking Tyler Shough, and it might give them confidence to draft a wide receiver carrying the same label. Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson is becoming a hot topic in Saints mock drafts as we come down to stretch to the 2026 NFL Draft. Tyson also recently toured the team headquarters in Metairie on one of 30 official pre-draft visits the Saints are allowed, and he'll work out at his individual pro day on April 17.
Injuries have cost Tyson 34% of his games at the college level. A major knee injury ended his 2022 freshman year and sidelined him for the entire 2023 season. When Tyson returned in 2024 he started all twelve games he played in but missed Arizona State's two-game playoff push with a collarbone injury. He played fewer games in 2025, starting all nine of them, while missing three weeks with a hamstring issue.
And that's what may give the Saints confidence. These aren't connected issues. It's not like Tyson has dealt with a series of knee injuries -- just the one his freshman year, tearing three ligaments in his knee and leading to an extensive rehab. The broken collarbone doesn't have anything to do with pulling a hamstring a year later.
It was a similar situation with Shough. He suffered a broken collarbone in back-to-back years, and then a broken leg ended his next season. That falls more under the "bad luck" category than a "specific vulnerability" to worry about. Tyson could be seen the same way. If he can stay healthy in the pros, like Shough did as a rookie, they could be a dangerous duo.

Jordyn Tyson has missed 34% of his college games due to a major knee injury, a broken collarbone, and a hamstring issue.
The Saints may view Tyson's injuries as isolated incidents rather than a pattern, similar to their experience with quarterback Tyler Shough, who also faced injury challenges.
Jordyn Tyson's individual pro day workout is scheduled for April 17.
