The New Orleans Saints also didn't look like a team too convinced their running back would be around in the long run, because they signed Travis Etienne from the Jacksonville Jaguars in free agency.
Kamara, though, apparently doesn't mind the move.
He spoke on Terron Armstead's podcast and provided his thoughts, which were in essence, the more the merrier.
āI think a lot of people beĀ thinking thereās a beef or somethingĀ when moves like this happen,ā Kamara said. āItās like, shoot, I couldnāt be happier. One, my boy got paid, and two, aināt nothing but some help in the backfield. Thatās the name of the game. One person canāt do it by themselves. Iām cool with it. Kamara's contract could still be a problem, especially after Etienne signed a deal worth $13 million per year. Kamara is still set to have a $10.45 million cap hit during the 2026 season.
These comments could be a bit of damage control from him, essentially signaling he'll do what it takes to stick around with the Saints, even if it means taking less money for the season ahead.
The Saints' decision would come after June 1, when the dead money implications on the cap get less intimidating as far as parting ways with Kamara.
For now at least, he's looking forward to a two-headed backfield, but it's no guarantee it looks like that when the season arrives.
