Manchester United plans to invest ÂŁ150m in three midfielders this summer.
The New Orleans Saints signed undrafted rookie offensive tackle Alan Herron from Maryland, providing depth behind their starting linemen. Herron received a $25K signing bonus and $272,500 in guaranteed money.
Offensive tackle was one position that the New Orleans Saints did not need coming into this offseason. Back-to-back first round picks of Taliese Fuaga (2024) and Kelvin Banks Jr (2025) gave the Saints what looks like a formidable tandem for years to come. However, there were some questions surrounding depth behind the two soon-to-be star linemen.
Veteran swing tackle Asim Richards got significant snaps in six games in 2025, including four starts, because of injuries and produced mixed results. Barry Wesley and Xavier Truss were both added by the Saints last year as waiver pickups but did not see action. Looking to provide competition and fortify depth, New Orleans signed undrafted rookie tackles Alan Herron from the Maryland Terrapins and Alex Wollschlaeger from the Kentucky Wildcats at the conclusion of the 2026 NFL Draft. Herron had a pre-draft visit with the Saints and wound up being brought in with a $25K signing bonus and $272,500 in guaranteed money. Here's what New Orleans saw in Herron to offer him such guarantees.
After growing up in Jamaica, Herron did not begin playing football until his senior year of high school after moving to America. From there, he played two years collegiately at Shorter University before starting the last two seasons at right tackle for Maryland. While there's room for technical improvements, Herron has nice fundamentals and the frame/footwork combination for the position in the NFL.
Herron will have his chances to earn a spot through training camp and preseason. Banks and Fuaga are the unquestioned starters on the left and right sides, respectively. Therefore, the competition to watch will be between Herron, Richards, Truss, Wesley, and Wollschlaeger. The hope is that one will stand out to be the important third tackle of the group. Herron has shown the versatility to play either side, so can hopefully develop quickly to be more than a developmental player to stash on the practice squad.
