EstĂȘvĂŁoâs participation in the World Cup with the Brazilian national team is at serious risk due to a hamstring injury suffered during Chelseaâs defeat to Manchester United last Saturday.
According to The Athletic, the 18-year-old forward suffered a grade-four injury, making his presence at the World Cup highly unlikely, since the tournament is set to begin on June 11, and Brazilâs opener against Morocco takes place two days later.
The Athletic had already reported on April 18 that EstĂȘvĂŁo would undergo imaging tests to assess the severity of the issue.
According to Wednesdayâs (22) report, by Mario Cortegana, Sebastian Stafford-Bloor and Liam Twomey, the MRI was carried out on Monday afternoon (20), and there was already a pessimistic mood behind the scenes at Chelsea even before the result came back.
The injury happened just 16 minutes into the match at Stamford Bridge, in the 1-0 loss to Manchester United.
The youngster left the pitch limping and, as manager Liam Rosenior confirmed after the match, was in tears in the dressing room.
