Scotland has selected Paralympic medallists Faye Rogers, Toni Shaw, and James and Stephen Clegg for the Glasgow 2026 Para-swimming team. They are joined by Astrid Carroll, Sam Downie, and Ollie Carter, making a total of seven athletes.
Paralympic medallists Faye Rogers, Toni Shaw and James and Stephen Clegg have been selected as part of Team Scotland's seven-strong Para-swimming team for this summer's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
World Championship silver medallist Astrid Carroll, world bronze medallist Sam Downie and national medallist Ollie Carter are also selected.
Rogers, 23, won 100m butterfly S10 gold at the Paris 2024 Paralympics and Shaw, 22, took bronze in the 400m freestyle S9 at the Tokyo Games three years earlier and Commonwealth bronze at Birmingham 2022.
Brothers James, 32, and Stephen, 30, have six Paralympic medals between them, with the former taking bronze in the 100m freestyle S12 at London 2012 and backstroke, butterfly and freestyle swimmer Stephen picking up a silver and two bronze over 100m events in Tokyo and two 100m golds in Paris.
Teenager Carroll took 100m breaststroke SB12 silver and 100m backstroke S12 bronze in last year's World Championships in Singapore. Downie, 20, won S8 100m backstroke at the 2023 event in Manchester.
Carter, 26, is a multi-BUCS Swimming Championships gold medallist.
"To have a home Games is such a rare opportunity," said Stephen Clegg.
"To have a crowd that is there for you is really special. As I've got older, I have learned to use the crowd in a much more effective way, and I think the atmosphere in Glasgow is going to be huge."
Rogers said of her first Commonwealth Games: "I feel very fortunate to get a home Games. I am most excited about it being in Glasgow and Scotland so that my family can come."
And Team Scotland chef de mission Elinor Middlemiss commented: "There is a huge amount of experience in this Para-swimming team, in both our returning athletes and those making their Commonwealth Games debut.
"I look forward to watching these athletes deliver what I'm sure will be strong performances in Glasgow and wish them every success."
