Scottie Scheffler sets worst ever personal record on day two at the PGA Championship

Scottie Scheffler endured a nightmare start to his second round of the PGA Championship, and he certainly wasn’t the only one.

However, the world number one was among the leaders on three-under heading into Friday, and would have been eager to make a strong start.

That would have really concerned the rest of the field at Aronimink, but the defending champion went in the other direction entirely.

In fact, star man Scheffler set a worst ever personal record at the start of day two at the PGA Championship in Pennsylvania.

Struggling in the early stages of Friday at Aronimink, Scheffler missed his first six fairways, which has never happened to him before.

He finally ended the disastrous run with his drive at the 18th, which was his ninth hole of the day, ending his first nine holes with one of seven fairways hit.

Making his nightmare streak all the more remarkable was his hugely contrasting efforts on day one at Aronimink.

Scheffler went 10 for 10 hitting the fairway to start his first round, the most in his career to begin a major championship, as per Justin Ray.

Epitomizing his dramatic decline off the tee, he posted a driving accuracy of just 14.29% (1/7 fairways), compared to a phenomenal 92.86% (13/14) on Thursday, dropping from a ranking of T1 to 78th among the entire field.
