Scottie Scheffler played some extremely solid golf on Sunday at the RBC Heritage and he did enough to force a playoff with Matt Fitzpatrick.
However, Fitzpatrick got the better of Scheffler on the first playoff hole to win the RBC Heritage for the second time.
The 32-year-old Englishman hit a sublime four-iron from 202 yards out into the 18th green on the first playoff hole and went on to hole his eight-foot birdie putt for the win.
Scheffler can be very proud of his efforts at the RBC Heritage this week, though, despite losing out to Fitzpatrick in the end.

Before the final round, Fitzpatrick predicted that Scheffler would have the RBC Heritage fans on his side.
And the Englishman was proven right, with the partisan American crowd vociferously supporting the world number one.
Scheffler spoke to reporters after losing out to Fitzpatrick in the playoff at Harbour Town Golf Links on Sunday.
He was asked what he made of the fans’ support of him during the final round.

“It’s nice always to get some support from the crowd,“ the world number one said.

“I thought they were pretty cordial in terms of cheering for me and not cheering against Fitzy, so I was definitely appreciative of that.“
In fairness to the crowd at Harbour Town, they were very respectful of Fitzpatrick throughout the final round, in spite of their strong support of Scheffler.
However, that support did become slightly raucous during the playoff, but that is to be expected at any event.
Scheffler was asked after his round to sum up his week on Hilton Head Island.
“Yeah, I did some solid stuff,“ the 29-year-old said.
*“*I think I had only one bogey over the weekend here, so did a lot of really good things. Would have liked to have seen a few more putts go in, but overall I executed the way I wanted to. It was just challenging out there. The wind is swirling all around, and it was hard to make birdies late in the day.
*“*I think in both weeks I put myself behind the 8-ball going into the weekend and had really nice Saturdays and Sundays in order to get myself into contention.
*“*On Sunday it’s a shot here or there that makes a difference. This was one of those weeks where anytime Fitzy needed something to happen, he made something happen.
“He definitely earned the win, and he just played great golf.“
