Seahawks 2026 schedule release: Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs won’t be coming to Seattle for Week 1

Thanks to the NFL’s marketing genius of slow-releasing the full schedule, we’re able to do process of elimination as far as what’s in store for the Seahawks in Week 1. Patrick Mahomes might be recovering from an ACL tear suffered last December, but that isn’t stopping the league from chancing it that he’ll be all systems go come early September. ESPN’s first Monday Night Football game of the year will be the Kansas City Chiefs and the Denver Broncos. Curiously enough, they haven’t yet announced whether the Chiefs or Broncos will be the home team for this AFC West rivalry. Denver, of course, is dealing with its own QB injury recovery after Bo Nix broke his ankle in the AFC Divisional Round. Let’s hope there isn’t a setback for both Nix and Mahomes, or else it’s Jarrett Stidham and Justin Fields to wrap up Week 1. In the meantime, Kenneth Walker’s return to Seattle as an opponent will be a little while longer. We know that the Seahawks won’t face any of the Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, or Kansas City Chiefs come September 9. Their only other home game options are the Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Chargers, Chicago Bears, and New England Patriots. Let’s be real, it’s not going to be the Cardinals. And while the Chargers are in Los Angeles, they are not a glamour team. It’s either the Chicago Bears or the New England Patriots as Seattle’s opening night opponent, and we’ll have our answer very soon.
