The Seattle Seahawks are set to meet with Missouri linebacker Josiah Trotter as part of their top 30 pre-draft visits. This marks a shift from their previous focus on edge rushers, running backs, and cornerbacks.

The Seattle Seahawks’ top 30 visits have overwhelmingly been with edge rushers, running backs, and cornerbacks up to this point. This latest pre-draft visit is an intriguing one at off-ball linebacker.
Missouri’s Josiah Trotter posted on his Instagram story that he’s lined up for a visit with the Super Bowl champions.
At just 20 years old, Trotter has declared early following two seasons at West Virginia (one of which was a redshirt year) before transferring to Missouri. In his lone year with the Tigers, the 6’2, 237 lbs Trotter earned first-team All-SEC honors after recording 84 tackles (13 tackles for loss), two sacks, and a pass defensed. If the surname rings a bell, he’s the son of former All-Pro linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Sr, whose other son Jeremiah Jr. is with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Here’s the skinny on Trotter from The Athletic’s Dane Brugler:
A one-year starter at Missouri (and two-year starter overall), Trotter wore the green dot as the Mike linebacker in defensive coordinator Corey Batoon’s 4-2-5 base scheme. An ACL injury robbed him of his first season, but he rebounded quickly in 2024 as a Freshman All-American at West Virginia. He transferred to the SEC for the 2025 season and led the Tigers in tackles, which earned him first-team All-SEC honors, alongside Georgia’s CJ Allen.
Like his All-Pro linebacker father, Trotter is a hammer looking for a nail. He is quick to key and diagnose versus the run and is a physical filler who can punch his way off blocks and square up as a tackler. However, it is the opposite against the pass, as he displays inconsistent route recognition, which often leaves him out of place and playing catch up. His field-general competitiveness and energy will ingratiate him with pro coaches.
Trotter has accomplished quite a bit as a two-year college football player. He projects as a Day 2 draft pick, where the Seahawks pick at No. 64 and No. 96. Trotter joins defensive end Zion Young as Missouri alums who’ve met with Seattle.
At the moment, Seattle’s main inside linebacker depth consists of Drake Thomas and Ernest Jones IV as starters, with Tyrice Knight and Patrick O’Connell as the top reserves. Inside linebacker is hardly a top need relative to other positions, but Trotter is still worth keeping an eye on.
Josiah Trotter's visit indicates the Seahawks are considering strengthening their linebacker position, which contrasts with their previous focus on other positions in the draft.
Josiah Trotter announced his visit with the Seahawks on his Instagram story, although the exact date of the announcement was not specified.
Josiah Trotter's performance at Missouri, particularly in key games, showcases his skills and could enhance his appeal to NFL teams, including the Seahawks.
