Reds.TV's John Sadak and Chris Welsh made mention before the Cincinnati Reds' series finale against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field of a story former Reds fan favorite Sean Casey has told about his time with the Reds and an incident at a bar near the ballpark.
Sadak talked during the broadcast about a new Home Away From Home bar near Wrigley, designed to welcome fans of the road team.
"Sean Casey would be happy to know that there's a safe haven for Reds fans here," Welsh joked.
"He might hop off a bus and give a friendly hello on the way out of town," Sadak added.
Casey told the story at the former Green Diamond Gallery in Montgomery.
"It was 2004, and we're playing against the Cubs," Casey said in February 2018. "Had to win to knock them out (of contention). After we won the game in Chicago, we're on the bus outside Wrigley. We knocked them out.
"Every year at the bars, fans are screaming. This year the crowd is quiet. I look over at a bar overflowing with Cubs fans. I said to the driver: 'Let me out.' I ran into a bar and screamed at the fans. 'You guys suck!' I'm running back to the bus with beer cans being thrown at me.
"All of the guys − (Barry) Larkin, (Adam) Dunn, everyone. (They) are all hanging out the window and screaming at the fans. Larkin said, 'Casey, that's the greatest thing I've ever seen.'"
