The Seattle Seahawks are considering signing former pass-rusher Dante Fowler after the 2026 NFL Draft. Despite not selecting any edge rushers, Fowler remains a top option due to his previous coaching relationship with the team's defensive coordinator.
The Seattle Seahawks are fresh off wrapping up the 2026 NFL Draft, where they had eight selections, but just three in the top 99 picks. With so few opportunities to add impact players, the Seahawks understandably still have some needs remaining.
For one, the Seahawks didn’t select any edge rushers, despite losing Boye Mafe in free agency. Yet, Seahawks general manager John Schneider may have a potential fix in mind for Seattle.
According to ESPN’s Seahawks insider Brady Henderson, edge rusher Dante Fowler remains a “top option” to sign in Seattle. The Seahawks brought Fowler in for a workout just before the NFL Draft took place, and he’s yet to sign elsewhere.
“With the Seahawks still in need of edge help, Dante Fowler Jr. remains a top option,” Henderson wrote. “DC Aden Durde coached him in Atlanta and Dallas. He ranked 31st in pressure rate at age 31 last season. Seattle had him in for a free-agent visit pre-draft then did not take any edge players.”
Fowler once signed a $45 million contract with the Falcons in free agency, lasting two seasons but producing just 7.5 sacks for Atlanta. He recorded just three sacks across 17 games (11 starts) in Dallas last season, but tallied 10.5 sacks with the Commanders in 2024.
The Seahawks are hoping he can turn back the clock a bit and still offer top-notch production. If not, Fowler could quickly be relegated to a rotational role, if he signs in Seattle.
