The spring sports season is coming to an end, but the Pueblo area athletes are still producing plenty of action.
Each week, the Chieftain recognizes the top student-athletes from area schools to highlight those who have performed at a high level. The Chieftain sports staff selects them. Coaches can nominate players by emailing cabdelmalek@gannett.com before Thursday night.
Pueblo Chieftain readers can now vote for their favorite high school athletes at the newspaper's website, chieftain.com. The poll is located at the bottom of the article and closes at midnight on Friday.
Each week, the winner will advance to the season's final vote.
(Please note, once an athlete wins a weekly vote, they will not be eligible to win again until the Spring Athlete of the Season vote.)

Greenwood had an impressive game for the Bulldogs as they earned a win in the first round of the CHSAA State soccer tournament. She scored three goals and chipped in two assists in the 6-2 victory over Aspen.

Lenn came up big for the Bulldogs as they got a much-needed victory over Sand Creek 16-15. He went 3-4 at the plate with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored.

Holland was instrumental in the Hornets' first-ever playoff win in girls' soccer history. Pueblo County defeated Adams City 4-0, and Holland scored three of the four goals for the team.

Swift had a great day at the plate as the Hornets picked up their eighth win in the South-Central League, defeating Pueblo Central 12-3. He went 3-5 at the dish with a double and an impressive five RBIs on the day.

Herrera had a solid outing for the Colts as they earned a victory over Pueblo East 9-3. He went seven innings on the mound, giving three runs, one earned, and striking out three batters, while also going 1-2 at the plate with a double and three runs scored.

King was stellar on the mound for the Cyclones as they defeated Liberty 10-0. King went five innings, only allowing two hits and striking out 10 batters along the way. He also went 1-2 at the plate with a double and one RBI.

Nibert had a great run at the Pueblo Twilight Meet held at Dutch Clark Stadium. She finished first in the triple jump with a distance of 36-8 feet, edging out Ambrey Crumb of Vista Ridge by almost two feet.

Golden was at the top of her game at the Pueblo Twilight Meet. She took home first place in the girls 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.88, beating Teleia Perry of Vista Ridge who finished second.

Donlon finished second overall at the Pueblo South Colt Invite held at Elmwood Golf Course. Her score of 79 overall (+9) helped the Thunderbolts to a second-place team finish overall, just ahead of Pueblo South.

Garcia helped the Pueblo County Hornets co-op swim and dive team to a victory over Fountain Valley to close out the regular season. He placed first in the 100-meter butterfly and in the 200-meter individual medley.
