Sergio Garcia broke his driver in frustration during the 2026 Masters after a poor tee shot on the second hole. Despite the incident, he managed to make par on the hole but was 3 over through 5 holes in the final round.
AUGUSTA, Ga. — It was a rough start Sunday morning for Sergio Garcia at the 2026 Masters.
The 2016 champion, playing alongside fellow LIV Golf star Jon Rahm, was on the par-5 second hole when he struck his tee shot and the ball started fading toward the bunker on the right side of the fairway. Garcia, unpleased with his swing and ball flight, then took his anger out on the tee box.
Garcia smacked his tee into the ground, taking a chunk of turf out of the tee box. He also snapped his driver head off after hitting a trash can while walking off the tee.
Garcia would go on to make par on the hole but was 3 over thru 5 early in the final round.
