Shane Lowry is in contention to win The Masters after a strong third round of 68. He expressed a desire to win a green jacket, similar to his friend Rory McIlroy's victory last year.

Shane Lowry has a real chance to win The Masters on Sunday at Augusta National.
Lowry posted a really solid third round 68 on Saturday at The Masters, and he will be desperate to get his hands on a green jacket just like his good friend Rory McIlroy did last year.
The 39-year-old Irishman already has one major win to his name but a second would seriously underline the incredible career he has had.
Lowry played supremely controlled golf on day three of The Masters, while McIlroy toiled and ended up shooting a disappointing round of 73 at Augusta National.

On Saturday, Lowry made Masters history after he became the first player to make multiple hole-in-ones at Augusta National.
Now he has to continue his fine form on into the final round as he goes in search of the green jacket that he so desperately craves.
Lowry addressed the media after his third round at Augusta National on Saturday.
He responded when asked if he is optimistic about catching McIlroy on Sunday at Augusta National.
“I thought if Rory could shoot a 68 today he might run away with the tournament,“ the 2019 Open champion said.
*“*The course, they made it a bit more gettable today. I noticed on TV this morning the greens were softer than they were yesterday.
*“*But the thing is, it’s not easy to go out and go after it when you’re at the top of the leaderboard. Not that it’s easy to do it.
*“*But when you’re down the field and you’re just having a go at it, it makes it a little bit easier and you can play a bit more freely. When you are out there in the hunt you need to be a little bit more protective of what you are doing.

*“*Yeah, it obviously wasn’t going to be an easy day for Rory to shoot a score, and he has, he’s 1-over over playing the last there, but we all know it’s all about tomorrow.
“You know what I mean? Obviously it matters, today, but when we get to tomorrow, that’s when, you know, we’ll see what everyone is made of.“
Lowry will need to play almost faultless golf at Augusta on Sunday, if he is to win The Masters, given how many world-class players are inside the top-10 on the leaderboard right now.
However, he does have the experience needed to go on and win.
He proved in 2019 at Royal Portrush that he knows how to win a major championship.
However, that was a long time ago now, and he will still be scarred from his recent collapse at the Cognizant Classic.
The Irishman will also be acutely aware of the way in which he fell away at The Masters in 2025.
If Shane Lowry is to catch and overtake his good friend Rory McIlroy on Sunday at The Masters, he will need to handle the pressure at Augusta National much better than he has done in the past.
