Shane Lowry threw himself into the mix at The Masters by adding to his already impressive repertoire of aces.
Lowry made a hole-in-one on the sixth hole, adding to his list of career aces which includes the 16th at Augusta, the 7th at Pebble Beach and the 17th at TPC Sawgrass. He became the first man to ace two different holes at The Masters.
What was even more impressive about this feat was that it put him firmly in contention for the Green Jacket. He had a third round of 68 to move two shots behind the leading Rory McIlroy and Sam Burns.
After the round, the 2019 Open Championship winner shared his reaction to the shot, and why he was proud of himself for what he did afterwards.

Lowry has become somewhat of a hole-in-one specialist, and he broke down ace after the round. He said, âThatâs wild, isnât it? Made one a couple of weeks ago in Houston. You donât ever expect to make a hole-in-one. I just couldnât believe it.
âObviously, you know, youâre out there, and youâre in the hunt at the Masters and youâre making hole-in-one, itâs pretty cool. The walk down the sixth hole with everyone around 16 and the 6th was very special. Iâll remember that for a while. Yeah, it was obviously amazing.â
The Irishman went on to say how proud he was for calming himself down after the adrenaline rush. He said, âIt gives you obviously a huge kind of boost. You go from 6-under to 8-under, and then all of a sudden youâre only four back. Itâs getting real now. I felt like I did a great job of calming myself down afterwards.
âMyself and Neil have talked about during the week about the only shot that matters is the next one. I hit a great tee shot on seven, and I was very happy and proud of that one, because itâs easy to get a bit flustered in areas like that. Your adrenaline is pumping. So, yeah, I was happy with that.â
Lowry became the first player with two hole-in-ones at The Masters, and he said his dad told him this when he was on the 18th hole.
He said, âMy dad just said that to me walking up the 18th. Yeah, yeah, itâs pretty cool. All you get is two bits of crystal. You donât get much else.â
It feels like Lowry deserves more for breaking this record, so letâs see how Augusta National responds!
