Macklin Celebrini has concluded one of the most impressive seasons by a player his age in NHL history.

The San Jose Sharks phenom will go down as the third-best points scorer for a 19-year old that hockey has ever seen.

The Sharks didn't make the playoffs, so Celebrini probably heads home at least a little disappointed. But he's got nothing to hang his head about.

The final tally: 45 goals, 70 assists.

That's 115-points for the young Canadian superstar.

Ahead of him on the all-time list are just two names for players at 19 years old: Wayne Gretzky and Sidney Crosby.

Crosby's age-19 season featured 120 points -- he scored 36 goals and dished out 84 assists.

Gretzky's age-19 season will always be the gold standard. He finished with 164 points, which included 55 goals and 109 assists.

Fans in the replies to the above post were quick to point out a number of things.

One of them: Crosby had 61 power-play points in his age-19 season, compared to just 32 for Celebrini, who was more impressive at even strength.

Another pointed out that Alex Ovechkin didn't get his age-19 season due to lockout.

And there's the overhanging reality here that the Sharks weren't very good and Celebrini finished with a highly improbable total of his team's points. He wasn't doing this totally alone, but in a sense, he kind of was.
