Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter are Colorado football's top NFL stars after being drafted last year. The two friends and former college teammates will face off against each other in Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season.
With the NFL schedule being released Thursday evening, we now know that Hunter's Jaguars will host Sanders' Cleveland Browns in Jacksonville on Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. ET.
Cleveland and Jacksonville did not face each other last season, meaning the Week 1 matchup will be the first time Sanders and Hunter have faced each other at any level.
Hunter, the No. 2 overall pick in 2025, missed a significant portion of his rookie season with a torn LCL in his right knee. He ended the year with 28 receptions for 298 yards and one touchdown on offense. On defense, Hunter added three pass deflections to go along with 15 total tackles. He will look to be on the field more regularly as he ends his second season.
Sanders, on the other hand, began his rookie season as the Browns' third-string quarterback, but through injuries and trades, made his way into the starting lineup by midseason. He ended up starting seven games, going 3-4 while throwing for 1,400 yards, 17 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. It was an up-and-down seven games, but he did well enough to earn a Pro Bowl nod and perhaps even start Week 1 against Hunter's Jaguars team.
