As if confirming relegation with a record 13 games to spare wasn’t bad enough, Sheffield Wednesday continue to hit unwanted milestones in what has been a disastrous season.

Last week’s 1-1 draw at home to Charlton Athletic means the Owls have now gone over 365 days without a home win, setting the longest winless run at home in English Football League history since its formation in 1888.

Their next match at Hillsborough comes on May 2 against West Brom, by which point they’ll reach 373 days without a home victory, surpassing Sunderland’s previous record of 364 days from the 2016-17 season.

What’s gone wrong?

Much of the blame has been directed at owner Dejphon Chansiri, who has overseen a steady decline both on and off the pitch since taking over in 2015.

His time in charge has been plagued by financial issues - including delayed wage payments and tax problems - alongside breaches of EFL financial regulations, which have led to significant sporting penalties.
