Sherrone Moore sentenced to probation after assistant case

At long last, the Sherrone Moore saga has officially come to a close.

The former Michigan football head coach was arrested on the day that he was fired from his post after having gone to his former assistant, Paige Shiver's, residence. He was initially detained but eventually charged with stalking and more, leading to his eventual appearances in court.

Last month, most of the charges had been dropped, with the felonies having been pleaded down. But on Tuesday, Moore learned his fate with the rest, two misdemeanors outstanding, and he was sentenced to 18 months probation with no jail time.

Per Dan Wetzel's report, Judge Cedric Simpson still gave Moore a bit of a rebuke: “Frankly, Mr. Moore, you had no right to do what you did," he said. "I know she was placed in fear. It was a traumatic experience for you, it was certainly a traumatic experience for her. But you had no right to spread your pain to her.”

Now, with Moore having been sentenced, so long as he stays clear of any more trouble in the next year and a half, he will avoid any kind of incarceration or further penalties. However, the biggest penalty of all is his unlikelihood of finding another job in college football in the aftermath of his actions.
