A Kansas native, Moore joined the Michigan Wolverines coaching staff in 2018 and was named head coach in 2024. At the time of his appointment, he signed a five-year contract with a base annual salary of $5.5 million.
Though Mooreâs firing and subsequent arrest made national headlines, a source in the college football world told CBS Sports in December that the former coachâs relationship with Shiver was âthe worst-kept secret.â
âEverybody in the program has known this the last two seasons,â a high-level Michigan booster told the outlet. âThis is a sad day to see it come to this. I feel horrible for all the players, coaches and families who are going to be disrupted. And I donât know what becomes of Sherrone.â
When asked for comment on Shiverâs claims, an attorney for Moore told âGMAâ in a statement: âSherrone Moore has closed this chapter.â
Though Shiver is no longer employed by the University of Michigan, she says she hopes to encourage other women who are in similar situations to speak out.
âI just want other women that are going through this to know that this doesnât need to happen,â she said. âIt doesnât need to go this far.â
