Barcelona were knocked out of the Champions League by Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night in another game that contained plenty of controversy.
The Catalan giants wanted a penalty in the first half when Dani Olmo was pushed in the penalty area by Marcos Llorente.
The Barcelona star went to ground but no penalty was given by match referee Clement Turpin and there was no intervention by VAR either.
Mundo Deportivoâs refereeing analyst CĂ©sar Barrenechea Montero felt the referee hadnât been able to see clearly what happened: âThe refereeâs position prevents him from seeing the play clearly. Itâs a borderline play. If he had awarded a penalty, nobody would have said a word.â
Barcelona boss Hansi Flick was asked about the refereeing during the game but didnât want to get into it. He told reporters: âI donât want to talk about this because itâs something I canât change. Itâs good for you that I talk about it, but I donât want to.â
