Simone Biles narrowly avoided a wardrobe malfunction at the 2026 Laureus World Sports Awards.
On Monday, April 20, the Olympic gymnast, 29, revealed on her Instagram Stories that she had to be sewn into her feather-covered gown before heading to the annual awards ceremony at Madrid’s Cibeles Palace. “What you don’t see,” Biles began as she held the camera above her head to show a woman sewing her dress onto her body. “Getting sewn into my dress because it busted.”
For the event, the athlete donned a Cong Tri minidress covered in sharp ivory feathers. While the stunning feathers cascaded down one side of the dress in a dramatic floor-length train, Biles added even more flair with a pair of matching heels, a golden clutch, a statement watch and her oval-cut wedding ring.

Earlier that day, Biles penned a message to her fans on her Instagram Stories, urging them to give her some space throughout her European travels.
"okay I reallllly love how passionate and dedicated y'all are, BUT I have to be honest. It really makes me anxious when you stand outside of the hotel all day,” she wrote over a scenic shot of her fruity beverage at what seems to be a restaurant. “Can we please please please love from afar 🤍🤍🤍🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾& respect privacy xx.”
She added, "i would love to take pics while I'm out & about though 🫶🏾."
While Biles attended the Laureus World Sports Awards as an ambassador and special guest, her journey with Laureus began in February when she visited Polisportiva Garegnano — a program supporting youth, particularly girls, by building confidence, resilience and life skills through sport — alongside husband Jonathan Owens.

"Laureus has played a meaningful role in my journey for many years, and I am incredibly proud to have been honoured four times as Laureus Sportswoman of the Year, including at last year’s Awards in Madrid, which was an unforgettable night for me," she said at the time, per the Laureus website. "I’ve seen that power in action – how sport can open doors, build confidence and help young people feel seen and supported”
"The opportunity to visit the girls in Milan was a reminder of why this work matters so much,” Biles added. “Their energy, their determination, their joy."
