Competing in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics is still on the table for seven-time Olympic gold medal gymnast Simone Biles. The 29-year-old has represented Team USA in the last three Summer Olympics.
With just more than two years until LA28, Biles knows she will need to make a decision soon.
“I feel like we’re still at a 50-50 and that we’re still on a time crunch here now it’s almost half of 2026,” Biles said during an interview with CNN while at the Laureus World Sports Awards in Madrid.
“We’re going to have to make these decisions pretty quickly.”

Biles has been vocal about the importance of prioritizing mental health in sports, especially after experience with the “twisties” caused her to withdraw from multiple events during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Biles said her decision on whether or not compete in LA28 will be influenced by her mental health more than her physical ability to compete at an elite level.
“Mental health plays a big role in it because, physically, my coaches will get me in shape,” Biles said in the interview.
“I can get myself in shape. We believe in that ability. We’re really thankful that I’m still healthy.
“Mental is a huge thing and it’s a lot of dedication on that because the road’s not easy. It’s long, but it’s still work.”
In addition to Biles, gymnastics fans are waiting to learn if other members of the 2024 Paris Olympic team will be returning for 2028. Hezley Rivera, who was just 16 in 2024, is expected to return for LA28. Meanwhile, Jordan Chiles, Suni Lee and Jade Carey have yet to confirm their plans to compete.
