The Philadelphia 76ers are confident in their offense as they prepare for Game 2 against the Boston Celtics after a tough Game 1 loss. Despite shooting poorly, they believe they can improve and generate better scoring opportunities.
BOSTON -- The Philadelphia 76ers had a tough offensive day in their Game 1 loss to the Boston Celtics to open this Round 1 playoff series. The Sixers shot just 38.9% from the floor and 4-for-23 from deep as it couldn't find an offensive rhythm against a tough Celtics team.
As the Sixers head into Game 2, they, obviously, know they can't shoot the ball that poorly and expect to win. The Celtics can be an offensive juggernaut once they get going and Philadelphia couldn't make enough shots to keep up in this one.
While at practice on Monday, the Sixers dove into a very detailed film session as they went over all of their mistakes from Game 1 in preparation for Game 2. When it comes to the offense, specifically, they generated a lot of good looks, but just had a tough time knocking them down which led to the struggles they had. With that in mind, the team is feeling confident in its offensive attack.
"That was our main focus today in film, too," Andre Drummond said. "Like, don't get discouraged. I mean, we generated a lot of good shots, and we just got to keep taking those shots and be more confident, and don't worry about it. Let the ball just flow."
Tyrese Maxey shot 1-for-4 from deep while VJ Edgecombe and Kelly Oubre Jr. both shot 0-for-5. That can't happen again as the Sixers rely on those players to provide the offensive punch they need to win games. Paul George shot 4-for-8 from the floor, but needs more attempts to get involved on the offensive end of the floor. Either way, again, good shots, but they could not convert.
The Sixers shot 38.9% from the floor and 4-for-23 from three-point range in Game 1.
The Sixers held a detailed film session to review their mistakes from Game 1 and focus on improving their offensive execution.
Andre Drummond emphasized the importance of confidence in their shooting and maintaining a positive mindset.

"It’s a make-or-miss league, you know?" added Justin Edwards. "Basketball gods weren't on our side. So, I expect them to be on our side (Tuesday)."
Basketball certainly is a make-or-miss game at times. A team can generate great shots, as the Sixers did in Game 1, but if they can't knock them down, then it is what it is. They know that as they head into Game 2 looking to steal home court advantage before this series shifts to Philadelphia.
"It’s make or miss," Drummond added. "We generated open shots. That was just our main thing. It was just a miss game for us. We missed a lot of shots that we normally make. Like I said earlier, like, the floaters Tyrese takes. The 3s that Paul shoots. Justin shot a few shots as well, too, that could have went in. It is what it is. It's make or miss. It's more focus, and we'll knock those shots down."
