Smokies reliever Marino Santy found a way out of the inning, giving up two hits and striking out three batters. But the damage had already been done.
An RBI single from Owen Ayers in the first inning put Knoxville on the scoreboard for the first time this series. Devin Ortiz added to the lead with a sacrifice fly that pushed Jordan Nwogu across home plate.
The Lookouts responded with three runs spread across the second and third innings, and Chattanooga stayed in the lead until Knoxville added two runs in the fifth. The Smokies finished the game with six hits.
The Lookouts are up 2-0 in the six-game series, which ends Sunday, April 26.
