Four Miami Valley teams have secured top seeds in the Ohio D-I and D-II softball tournaments. The new super draw format combines Dayton and Cincinnati schools for the first time, with district play starting on May 11.
May 11—Softball district tournament draws for Divisions I and II completed the fields for all Ohio divisions, as released Sunday, May 10.
The final seeds were set Friday, May 8 at midnight through the MaxPreps RPI formula used by the Ohio High School Athletic Association.
All regular season results that remain past that date do not factor into the final seed order or postseason determination.
The super draw format combining all Southwest District teams is being implemented for the first time after being approved in March. Dayton and Cincinnati schools will be combined into one draw for D-I, and the same goes for D-II, instead of being separated into North and South districts.
District play begins Monday, May 11 and finals take place on May 20 and 21. All games leading into the district final round will be held at the higher seed's field. District final games will take place at sites to be determined.
Regional finals will be held May 29. The state finals at Akron's Firestone Stadium will be held from June 3-7.
The district draws for D-III through VII took place a week ago.
Here is a look at some of the notable seeds, matchups and game locations for D-I and II.
