Tournament time has arrived for high school softball teams in Ohio.
Here are some players to watch from teams in the Muskingum Valley.
Players are listed alphabetically.
The cleanup hitter and batterymate for pitchers Kendall Snider and Delaney Bell, the four-year starter is a Muskies linchpin for a 21-3 squad that earned a No. 2 seed in the East District in Division IV.
A .425 career hitter with 136 career hits, she entered May 7 hitting a team-best .494. Her 38 hits were 10 more than the next-closest teammate, while her 18 extra-base hits and 1.414 OPS also pace the group.
John Glenn's Addison Babcock runs the bases against Indian Valley during a high school softball game on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, in New Concord, Ohio. John Glenn won, 7-1, to improve to 2-0.
The Generals' star freshman has taken the East District by storm, batting a team-high .507 while also pacing the lineup in homers (five), RBIs (21) and an eye-popping 1.448 OPS.
She has also served as the catcher for ace Addison Lahmers and classmate Jaden Jaras, who have combined for 18 wins. Bates, Lahmers and Jaras are the 3-4-5 hitters in a lineup producing six runs per game.
If the 7-16 Electrics are to make a Cinderella-type run in the Division IV East District, Charles will undoubtedly have a big say.
The senior had a team-high .420 batting average and 1.113 OPS entering a May 8 game at Fairfield Union, and she is coming off a five-hit complete game against a potent Maysville lineup in a 5-1 win on May 4. The force was truly with her as she lowered her ERA to 3.65 with a team-high 70 strikeouts.
Dupler’s third sport of her senior season has been perhaps her best, especially with the bat in her hands. Her 1.056 OPS, 26 runs and 23 RBIs leads an offense averaging 6.4 runs per game.
A win against MVL-Big School leader John Glenn last week is proof that Dupler and Co. could provide more than a casual scare in the Division V Southeast District, despite a 7-16 record.
The kid sister of four-time All-Ohio pitcher Cora Hall, this freshman has been a big reason the Generals have maintained their high hopes after losing several key components from 2025.
Hall had a .382 average with a team-seven homers out of the lead-off spot entering a May 8 game against defending Division V state champion Wheelersburg.
The last name is a fitting one for this powerful bat that helps drive a a fierce Tornado lineup with a .413 batting average and 15 extra-base hits. Among those, four are homers and 11 are doubles.
Only sophomore slugger Calie Smith has produced more RBIs than the senior Hammer's 26 entering play on May 7. She has also had no errors in 37 chances in center field as the fifth-seeded Tornadoes eye a Division V run in the East District.
West Muskingum's Gabbi Hammer fights off an inside pitch during a high school softball game against visiting West Muskingum on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in Newton Township, Ohio. Hammer drove in three runs as West won, 26-7, to sweep the set against the Panthers.
The Generals ace senior, who pitched the team to a Division VI district title in 2025, sports a 1.94 ERA with 194 strikeouts and is hitting .347 with 10 extra-base hits as the team eyes a Division V regional trip.
She ranks third on the team in average and is second in OPS (.948) behind Bates.
Addison Lahmers, middle, is greeted by teammates after securing Ridgewood's 5-2 win in 11 innings against top-seeded Crooksville in a Division VI district final on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the Philo Athletic Complex in Duncan Falls. Lahmers struck out 22 batters to eclipse 300 for her career as the Generals reached their first regional in school history.
The day four-time All-Ohioan Cora Hall graduated meant a hole the size Wayne National Forest was left in the middle of the young Generals' roster. Enter Ranck, Hall's No. 2 in command in the circle the past two seasons, who has filled the job admirably.
Through May 7, the senior was 14-4 with 113 strikeouts in 117 innings, while offering five homers and a team-best 26 RBIs as the team's No. 3 hitter. This, against a schedule featuring nine teams currently ranked in the top 10 in their respective divisions.
As the Generals eye potential rematches with defending Division III state champion Dover and top-seeded Chillicothe, Ranck will be the one driving the boat as they eye a another tournament push.
Sheridan's Megan Ranck fires a pitch during the sixth inning of a 4-2 loss to John Glenn on April 6, 2026, in Reading Township, Ohio. Ranck was 9-0 last season and is currently the ace of a Sheridan team that again has high expectations.
In a season where the Scotties have leaned on offense more than any in recent memory, the veteran Reffitt has been the primary power source.
She has a team-best 1.109 OPS, including an .833 slugging percentage, and is tied for the team lead in hits with Gerran Matthews with 28 as the Scotties sit at 14-11 entering Division III East District tournament play. She has just 10 strikeouts in 77 plate appearances.
Rollison, first-team All-Ohio in Division VI as a sophomore, has fought a lower back injury that has impacted her pitching since the early stages of the season. The Ceramics' roller-coaster season has been partial a reflection of that, but Rollison's bat has still been a strength on a team with multiple key returners from last year's East District finalist, including top starter Elyse Baker.
She had a .373 average, six homers, 12 extra-base hits and an 1.025 OPS as the Ceramics sit at 9-13.
Crooksville's Dalena Rollison throws a pitch in a 15-12 win against visiting Philo in a Muskingum Valley League softball game on Thursday, May 15, 2025, in McLuney, Ohio.
Rush, a junior, has been an impressive power source in a year the Raiders have struggled to get outs, even with Rush and No. 2 Laney Kangas returning with two years of pitching experience.
Despite missing four games, Rush entered the weekend batting .646 with nine homers, 24 RBIs and an eye-popping 2.054 OPS. Her 1.364 slugging percentage is better than anyone leaguewide.
She now has 23 career homers and 67 RBIs.
Morgan's Allia Rush delivers a pitch through the rain during a 20-11 victory over John Glenn in a Division IV district semifinal on May 20.
With rare exceptions, Snider has been the undoubted pitching force of the MVL with a 13-1 record, 0.71 ERA and 223 strikeouts to only 11 walks. Opponents are hitting only .111 against her.
John Glenn sophomore Kendall Snider fire a pitch during a game against Sheridan on April 6, 2026, in Reading Township, Ohio. Snider struck out 182 batters in 2025 and is the Muskingum Valley League' top returning pitcher.
And like Charles and Ranck, her bat is among the best in the MVL — she has a team-high seven homers, is batting .442 with a 1.373 OPS and is third on the team with 18 RBIs.
